JR Quarter Horses is a family owned business in Missouri.  The Hostetlers have owned and ridden horses their whole lives.  Sixteen years ago, when Dominic and Sammy Hostetler were teenagers, their passion had grown and they were ready to offer a homegrown horse for sale to the public.  To continue to grow this passion, their father, Jake Hostetler, provided the boys with a horse every year whom they would pour their efforts into riding and training and offering for sale.  As they got older and their abilities of training advanced, the business grew.

Currently, at JR Quarter Horses, Dominic, Sammy, and the youngest brother, Jarius, ride and train the horses, while Jake Hostetler gives his sons moral support, all making the business a success.  They collectively handpick horses who become part of their program, take their time with the advancement of their skills and exposure, creating family-friendly horses all levels of riders can enjoy.

Personally, the Hostetlers enjoy and excel in team roping.  Every horse who goes through their program is exposed to roping calves to some extent.  They believe this practice exposes the horse to some pressure and teaches them to be confident, quiet minded, and diverse.  Twice a year, the brothers ride together during cattle roundups where they sort cattle and drag calves to the fire with horses in their program.  Throughout the time a horse is in their barn, they go on many trail rides, are involved in ranch work, pasture riding, and arena work where they learn and grow more proficient in skills such as spins, side passes, and self-carriage.  The real cowboys and cowgirls of the family are Dominic and Sammy’s children, who often throw a leg over the horses or give them regular spa days, which include baths and braiding.

Horses offered by JR Quarter Horses are gentle-broke, diverse, suitable for the whole family, confident in both arena work and on the trails, and a joy to have in the barn.
